No purchases are allowed before this, but savvy buyers cheerfully line up at their favorite vendor table (usually fresh, local produce) well before the signal. This is a large market with lots of choices, but things sell out quickly. Get there early, make a note of what you hope to buy, and plan a route for getting to your destinations quickly.
